Prosperity Insitute is the brainchild of Purity Wanjiku Kabura. Started barely two months ago, it has grown to provide nine youths from the Kariobangi North area of Niarobi with dressmaking, hairdressing and computer skills.
These are youths who have been left behind in Kenya's capitalist march and cannot afford some of the higher costing colleges and universities in the city.
A former resident of Kariobangi North, Purity Kabura says she wanted to so something that "could have along lasting effect for some of the people who are really needy." She deliberately avoided creating a high-end vocational college so that she could specifically cater for those who are financially disadvantaged.
